A Florida log truck driver has been charged with his alleged involvement in an July 6 accident on Highway 84 that severely injured motorcyclist Jim Frost, 64, of Blackshear.
Cephus C. Lee, 49, of White Springs, Fla. has been charged with improper lane change and failure to maintain lane following several weeks of investigation by Blackshear police.
Lawmen are still looking into the incident, with a possibility other changes could be filed, according to lawmen.
A BPD investigator says while they believe the driver charged is the one involved in the accident based on witness statements and other information, police do not believe the driver knew he had hit Frost.
Frost was traveling next to a log truck heading west on Highway 84 near Trudie Road when witness accounts indicate the truck attempted to change lanes and hit Frost on a 2002 Harley Davidson, throwing him from the motorcycle, according to a BPD report. Frost was recently transferred to a Brunswick hospice facility.
