Born at "Pepper Hill", she was the daughter of Dr. William Hoskins and Jeannette Carter Roy Hoskins. Elizabeth was the consort of Governor and Congressman Andrew Jackson Montague, whom she married in 1889. At the urging of her husband she assumed leadership of raising money for the Home for Needy Confederate Women. On March 3, 1898 it was chartered - the last cause of the Lost Cause.
