A telephone company workman was nearby and witnessed the incident. Later, the killer was arrested and it was learned that Officer O'Sullivan had testified against him in a drug trial in November and had answered disturbance calls at his house twice in the week before the shooting. The man was convicted and sent to prison but has since been released.
