LEVI CORBIN

For many years this community has enjoyed the companionship of Levi Corbin, one of the best citizens, always kind, considerate, honest. Last Sunday when it was known that he answered the final summons, there was a feeling of regret that he was gone.

Levi Corbin, son of Richard and Barbara Corbin, was born near Croton, Licking county, Ohio, September 20, 1833. Here on his father's farm with six brothers and three sisters he grew to manhood. He died Feb. 12, 1928, and was 94 years, 4 months and 22 days old.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ross, December 1, 1857. To this union two children were born, Caroline B. and Clema, the son passing away when only a few months old, the wife and mother following in death soon after.

He was united in marriage to Lydia J. Ross, a cousin of his former wife. Three children were born to them, Mary A., Lory D., and Nettie L., the two latter preceding him in death.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Irons of Guymon, Okla., and Mrs. Charles White, of Afton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchidren, also a brother, Elmus Corbin of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Martha Henderson of Axtell, Nebraska.

When a young man he united with the Christian church and always believed in living by the Golden Rule. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Afton.

Mr. Corbin has lived in Afton since 1885 and made many friends. His straight forward manner of living, his good genial nature, his friendliness, his open honesty in all his dealings made him out standing. The Lord gave him long life as a reward for good clean living all his 94 years. Afton has lost one of its noblest citizens whose christian manner of life was an excellent example to us all.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Wednesday, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Clarke Howard. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery
