William McKay Dougan was born in 1846 to William Allred and Susannah (Miller) Dougan in North Carolina.
He was married to Margaret Bulla on February 13, 1868 in North Carolina. They divorced. He then married Lillie Walton in Kansas. He married Clara Belle Hayes in 1889 in Iowa.
He was a physician who opened a dispensary and published an ad in The Indian Herald at the Osage Agency (Pawhuska) in the early 1870s.
Dorothy Dougan Cooper (Dixie), a descendant of his, has said that he was buried in Texhoma, Texas, Oklahoma, but there is no grave there. They say a big duststorm in the Dirty Thirties covered many graves in one part so his is probably buried.
We can not let him be forgotten, so this memorial has been created to honor him.
