Friends of Mr. James A. Porterfield will regret to learn of his death which occurred early Saturday morning at his home at 412 North Main Street. He had been ill for about three weeks.

Mr. Porterfield, who was eighty-four years of age, was born near Commerce and came to this city nearly twenty years ago and has a large number of friends who will greatly mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Primitive Baptist church. Rev. W. C. Kicklighter of Ocilla, pastor of the church, officiated and was assisted by Rev. Singleton, pastor of the First Baptist church of this city. Interment was held in Arbor cemetery.

Besides his devoted wife he is survived by three sons, R. L. Porterfield, of this city, J. E. Porterfield, Ft. Meade, Fla., and Will Porterfield and by one daughter, Mrs. T. M. Wilbanks of Ft. Meade, Fla., one brother, O. Porterfield of Athens and one sister, Mrs. J. A. White of Douglas. He is also survived by a large family connection, including a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The following acted as pall bearers, James Paulk, Jr., W. M. Rawlins, Felix Branch, Henry Evans, David L. Paulk, and L. L. Harrell.
