Dear Riley has left us
Now he lives beneath the sod
We can't see his dear sweet face
For he is now with God.
His loving eyes are closed in death.
To look on us no more.
His hands lie crossed upon his breast,
As his earthly toils are o'er.
The snow will lie on his lovely grave.
The wind go moaning by.
The grave wherein his face is hid.
Alas our heart doth lie.
We will miss, you, dear Riley,
As we never have before,
And your smiles of welcome for us,
When you met us at the door.
So farewell dear Riley.
Sweetly may you sleep,
No sound can ever distrub your rest,
In your bed so cold and deep.
