Robert Emhardt, who studied acting and drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in England, frequently played on Broadway and began his career as an understudy for Sidney Greenfield in the 1930's and made his stage debut in 1942 in 'The Pirate'. He was also a very recognizable and familiar character actor who appeared several movies like 1957's '3:10 to Yuma' and 'Kid Galahad' in 1962 to countless TV shows like 'The Andy Griffith Show', 'Quincy M.E.' and 'The Alfred Hitchcock Hour'. From Disney to variety, comedy to action, military to horror, his roles were often portayed the sinister or overbearing, and he possessed the looks and ability to convey his character roles on stage and screen better than most.
His last role was in 'Forced Vengeance' in 1982 with Chuck Norris and David Opatoshu. Mr. Emhardt won The Critic's Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1948-49 season for his performances in 'Life With Mother". He died the day after Christmas 1994 of heart failure in Ojai, CA at the age of 80, and is survived by his wife Silvia (Sideli) and their three children, i.e., a son and two daughters.
