Captain William Lawrence Mauney, Jr.
Shalimar, Fla., — Captain William Lawrence Mauney Jr. (USAF, Ret.), 57, of Shalimar, Fla., formerly of Kings Mountain, N.C., died Saturday, March 13, 2004.
He was born October 5, 1946, to the late Dr. William Lawrence Mauney and Billie Louise Black Mauney.

Mother: Billie Louise Black Mauney
He was a 1966 graduate of Carolina Military Academy. He attended Wake Forest University and graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 1973.
He began his military career with the Army and received the Vietnam Service Medal and an Army Commendation Medal.
Dedicated to the armed services, he was commissioned into the Air Force, where he served until he retired in 1990.
A lifelong Lutheran, Captain Mauney was a former member of Saint Matthews Lutheran Church, Kings Mountain, N.C.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Teresita and daughter, Sarah Mauney, of the home; his mother, Elizabeth Winget Mauney of Kings Mountain; a brother, Dr. Jeff Mauney and wife, Priscilla, of Kings Mountain; a sister, Jennie Henshaw and husband, David, of Belmont; and three nieces, Elizabeth Mauney, Margaret Mauney and Catherine Hinshaw.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel, 113 Racetrack Road, NE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with Father Nelson Toledo officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
