MEDFORD - The Honorable Matthew W. Parks of Medford, died on January 30, 2006 at the age of 80.
Surviving are his wife Grace E. Wilson Parks; a daughter Marilyn Parks of Stratford; a son Gary Parks of Phoenix AZ; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Parks was a World War II veteran who was captured in December 1944 as a POW by Germany and released in May of 1945. He was in the 82nd Division Airborne Army.
Mr. Parks was sworn in as an attorney in 1952 and former managing partner of the firm Plone Tomar Parks Seilger Simonoff and Adourian of Haddonfield.
He was appointed to the bench as Judge of Compensation of the state of New Jersey in 1987 and retired in 2001.
He was a former Sunday school superintendent of Saint George's Wesley Methodist Church in Camden. A member of Lions International for over 50 years past president of the Camden Lions Club past president of the Board of Trustees of Lions District 16c., a member of the Lions Eye Band of Delaware Valley, and a member of South Jersey Chapter of the 82nd Air Borne Division.
Funeral services were held at 10 am Saturday at the Eichel Funeral Home at 8233 Maple Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ. Interment was private.
