Pfc. Charles C. Persing of Albany, Louisiana graduated from Albany High School in 2002 and enlisted after in the Army soon after. His father died when he was young an his mother was struggling financially at the time, so relatives took custody of "CC" and his younger brother, Robert. Early on in his Army days, he talked about making the military his career. Then, he toyed with the idea of becoming a police officer. He decided that he'd pursue college after his enlistment was up. He was going to buy some land and take care of his mama and his brother. Charles was killed when multiple mortar rounds hit his forward operating base in Iskandariyah, Iraq. He was 20.
