John (Johan) was the son of Hans Jacob and Elizabeth Neuferdt. He married Maria Magdalena Petri.
Johan's baptismal sponsors at the Lutheran Jerusalem and Friedens Union Churches were Daniel and Maria Stambach.
In the 1800 census, Albany twp., Berks Co., he (farmer) and Maria Magdalena are found. By 1820, same location, they have about 8 children, and they are sponsors of Magdalena, daughter of Christian and Catherina Neufert, in the Jerusalem Church, Kempton, PA.
A cholera epidemic swept through the area in 1824-1825, bringing about his premature death, and that of his daughter-in-law Salome, a granddaughter Magdalena, son Ruben, daughter Magdalena, son Samuel, his father-in-law, and undoubtedly many others.
Johan died intestate, the estate valued at $1,473.03. His parcel of 187 acres had a one-story log house, a Switzer barn, and a distillery, as well as other buildings. There were other tracts of 25 acres and 62 acres in Albany Twp. each having a one-story log dwelling and a newly built Switzer barn. His inventory included "3 horses, 3 colts, 6 heifers, 12 cows, a bull and 2 calves, 15 hogs, 5 wagons, sundries in the stillery, a spinning wheel, a wool wheel, many farm tools, smithing tools, flax, potatoes and corn in the ground, an apple orchard, hay, rye, wheat, clover and furniture to fill three homes."
Johan (John) and Maria Magdalena were the parents of George (md. Salome Grunewald and Mary Swank), Ruben, Jacob (md. Lidia), Hannah, Isaac (md. Amanda Rebecca Frey), Magdalena and Samuel.
