Enlisted, January 28, 1910, in Troop 4, Squadron A, NYNG, New York City. He marched in the Memorial and Independence Day parades in 1910.
He served in Squadron A with Raynal C. Bolling ( later Colonel ) and James Ely Miller (later Captain ) both killed in action as Army aviators in World War 1. Credit is given to then for organizing the 1st Aero Company, NYNG. The US Air Force Reserve begins it history with that unit. He was dischared from Squadron A in early 1911.
His brother Albertson A V Post was a founding member of Squadron A in 1889.
Appointed, February 11, 1911, 2nd Lieutenant, US Army. Assigned to the 25th Infantry Regiment then to the First Aero. He died in a crash after establishing an American altitude record of 12,120 feet.
