Obituary--Mary Jorgensen
Mary M. Jorgensen was born November 2, 1877 at Solswig, Holstein, Germany and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Berns on Friday, June 4, 1953, at the age of 75 years 7 months and 2 days. She was of a family of five children, one girl and four boys. Two of her brothers are still living. She came with her parents and four brothers to America at the age of two years and settled near Farnhamville. On Sept. 26, 1900, she was united in marriage to Alfred Jorgensen. They started housekeeping on a farm near Lanesboro, where their daughter and son-in-law now live. They stayed on the farm for 46 years and in the year 1945, they retired and moved to Lanesboro. To Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen were born four children, one son and three daughters. They are Ralph Jorgensen, Mrs. Roy McMullen (Mae) of Mankato, Minn., Mrs. Elmer Berns (Ella Bell), one daughter Violet Jorgensen passed away several years ago. Mr. Jorgensen proceeded her in death in January 1951. She is survived by her three children, five grandsons and one great grandson and two brothers. Mrs. Jorgensen has been in failing health for the last several months, having been a patient in the McVay hospital, but the last several weeks has been at the home of her daughter Mrs. Elmer Berns on the old home farm, where she was tenderly cared for. She passed away Friday night at 6 o'clock June 4. She was a kind wife and mother, a good neighbor and always willing to do for others. She was a member of the Methodist church in Lanesboro and a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted. Also a member of the Womans Society of Christian Service. She will be greatly missed in the home, by her family and many friends. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., in the Lanesboro church with the Rev. E. S. Blomquist officiating. The music was by Deloris Moulds and Mary Toyne who sang "In the Garden" and Norma Meyers sang "The Lords Prayer" accompanied at the organ by Miss Wilma Wickland. The pall bearers were Charles McClue, Byron McClue, Ed Berns, S. C. Zimbeck, Carl Miller and Jack Wegner. Burial was made in the Lanesboro cemetery.
In September 1950, they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at their home in Lanesboro and open house was held to their many friends and relatives and old acquaintances.
