Ada Armilda (Vanderhoof) Mills died at the age of 101 years, 7 months, and 23 days.

Ada Armilda Mills, 101, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.
She was born July 9, 1906 in Lafayette Township, Chautauqua County, Kansas, north of Sedan, Kansas to William and Atcha (Robinson) Vanderhoof.
Ada grew up in Chautauqua County receiving her education at Fly Creek, Hard Rock, Peru, Centerview, Plymouth, and Harmony schools.
On May 15, 1923 she married Roy A. "Tom" Mills at Sedan, Kansas. Tom preceded her in death on February 10, 1985.
Following their marriage they lived in Whiz Bang, Oklahoma for a short time before returning to Chautauqua County where Tom farmed, worked on a ranch and oil lease and Ada cooked for the ranch hands. Following their retirement in 1962 they moved to Sedan where Ada worked at Bradley's Variety Store and did cleaning for the Sedan State Bank.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan, active in the Rebecca Lodge in Sedan, a founding member of the Dorcus Society, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Sedan City Hospital.
She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Theron and Lecieta Taylor of Dearing, KS; Terry and Sharla Taylor of Palm Harbor, FL; and Renea and Tom Carter of Parsons, KS;
two sisters, June Doty of Sedan, KS, and Ruth Call of Cedar Vale, KS; seven great-grandchildren, JayAnn and Gene Maddux of Claremore, OK; Tim and Pam Taylor of Claremore, OK; Robert and Julie Taylor of Palm Harbor, FL; Jeff and Carin Kulzer of Milford, KS; Kari and Brent Hentzen of Mendenmines, MO; Eric and Amanda Carter of Denver, CO; and Nate and Jennifer Carter of St. Paul, KS; thirteen great-great-grandchildren, Matthew Gheen of Claremore, OK; Madison Taylor and Annaston Taylor of Claremeore, OK; Maggie Taylor and Phillip Taylor of Palm Harbor, FL; Timothy Kulzer and Sean Kulzer of Milford, KS; Andrew Hentzen, Emma and Ellie Hentzen of Mendenmines, MO; Harrison Carter of Denver, MO, and Chase Carter and Mason Carter of St. Paul, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant son, Roy Aden Mills; one daughter, Betty Jean Taylor in October 1972; and three sisters, Ethel Farris Rentschler, Opal Dilley Owens and Edith Spire.
Graveside services will be March 4, 2008, in the Crum Cemetery northeast of Sedan, Kansas, with Pastor Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating.
