NOAH ECKMAN, farmer, P. O. North Manchester. Noah, son of George and Mary M. Eckman, was born in Maryland, of which State his parents were also natives. Both parents are now deceased. His father settled in Ohio about 1825, and was engaged at the blacksmith's trade.
Noah came to Wabash County, Ind., in 1844, and purchased eighty acres of land, from which he has developed an excellent farm. He was married in December, 1839, to Miss Nancy Wood, a native of Ohio, and daughter of Peter and Hannah ( Bradford) Wood, natives of Virginia.
By this marriage they are the parents of eleven children, six of whom are now livingó Mary E., Hannah E., Margaret L., Melissa, Francis M. and Perry W. George W. enlisted in the Forty- seventh Indiana Regiment, and died at Benton, Mo.; Mary E. married William Frederick; Hannah E. mar≠ried Michael Gieke, who was a member of the One Hundred and Thirtieth Regiment during the late war: Margaret L. married Elias Payne; Melissa married Wesley Haldeman; Francis M., married Elizabeth Moyer; all re≠side in Indiana.
Mr. Eckman and family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In politics, he is a Republican.
