Raymond Anderson Morehart
Birth: Dec. 2, 1899
Death: Jan. 13, 1989

Major League Baseball Player. A native of Texas, he was a utility infielder for three seasons in the Major Leagues. A member of the famous 1927 New York Yankees team, he was originally property of the Chicago White Sox. On August 31, 1926, while playing for Chicago he tied a record by smacking 9 hits in a double header. On January 13, 1927, he was traded to the Yankees along with catcher Johnny Grabowski for infielder Aaron Ward. Morehart batted .256 in 73 games as the Yankees primary back-up infielder in 1927. After the season he was sent out to St. Paul of the American Association, finishing his pro career in the minors. After his career he worked as an accountant for the Sun Oil Company of Dallas, Texas. He died from a heart attack in 1989 while reading the newspaper in his favorite chair. Over the course of his career, he accrued a .269 average with 1 home run and 49 RBI in 177 league games.  (bio by: Frank Russo)
