Born in Endicott, Burnie had been a resident of the Perryville area 55 years. He was employed as a truck driver for Feher Rubbish Removal in Syracuse for 31 years retiring in 2001. Burnie was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany from 1966-1968. He was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church. Burnie was a member of Teamsters Local No. 317, the American Legion, loved his garage, his garden, home improvements, golf, his dog Buddy and his cat Bootsie.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Linda Baker; his son, Brian Baker (Cheryl) of Canastota; his daughters, Tammy Frisbey (Keith) of New Woodstock and Tracy Randall (Harry) of Clockville; his brother, John Baker of Canastota; his sisters, Nancy Leonard of Canastota, Dawn Schaeffler of Syracuse and Linda Mohorter of Canastota; his grandchildren, Kyria Rose, Patrick, Nolan, Anthony, Gavin, Nicolas and Ava and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory can be made to Wanderer's Rest, Juanita Dr., Canastota, N.Y. 13032.
