Gilroy Rummel 78 years old retired farm and church leader, died in Collingsworth General Hospital at 11:50 p.m. Monday, February 2, a few hours after he was admitted for treatment. He had suffered from a heart contition, but his death was unexpected. He farmed in the Loco community for many years until he and Mrs. Rummel moved to their home in Wellington. Besides the years which he devoted to farming , he served several groups related to agricultural. He was a former director of the Farmers Co-Op Gin and also served as a community committeeman in the ASCS Farm Program. He belonged to the Farm Bureau. A long-time member of the Church of Christ, he had served as an elder in the Wellington Church.
Gilroy Martin Rummel was born January 7, 1903 at Taylor, the son, of William and Lena Stolle Rummel.
Survivors, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Cox,of Wellington, one son, Dr. Don Rummel of Lubbock, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bodling of Vernon, Mrs. Alyce Strandt of Tyler, Four brothers, Aubrey Rummel of Lubbock, Robert Rummel of Vernon, August Rummel of Crowell and Bill Rummel of Tyler, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
