Elinor "Willene" Wendt, 68, of Sonora died Saturday in Sonora.
Mrs. Wendt was born in Butte, Mont., and moved to Vallejo when she was 8. She lived in Vallejo for many years before moving to Sonora, where she had lived for the past 22 years.
She was a member of Columbia Presbyterian Church of the '49ers, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Central Sierra Audubon Society, California Native Plant Society Sierra Foothills Chapter and Tuolumne General Hospital Auxiliary.
She loved birding, fishing, traveling, wildflowers, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale A. Wendt, in 2000 and a daughter, Doris A. Wendt, in 1997.
Mrs. Wendt is survived by a son, Jack Wendt of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Nancy E. Cronholm of Portland, Ore., Janet W. Duncan of Grass Valley and Cindy R. Rose of Boulder Creek; a sister, Dorothy P. Gallagher of Vallejo; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, at Columbia Presbyterian Church of the '49ers. Burial will be private. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
