Sally was only six when she died in the hands of her mother and father. I was born Nancy Marie Chesebro and now Nancy Marie Cherbeyla-Spaulding Sally's sister.
After 24 years our parents Bonnie VaDam and David Walton (Sally's father my step-father) were arrested for her murder and went to trail. Bonnie got off on a technicality and David got life in Jackson prison.
My sister and I went through a lot of abused in this lifetime and anyone who looks the other way while abuse is happening to someone, he/she needs to open up their eyes and heart and do something about it, because abuse of all kinds can and will kill.
It is April 22,2009:
It is now 31 years later and the common question I always got was, "Nancy how were you able to make it this far?"
My answer would be, "love, laughter, forgiveness and most important is knowing that I am part of something really big."
I also want to give some very good advice inspired by Zen Osho:
"Let go of the past, live in the present, and don't worry about the future. For the future will soon be the present and then soon the past."
In other words go with the flow and live life for the moments. You can not fix the past and no need to worry about what hasn't happen. Learn to live, love, and laugh in the present, most importantly learn to dance!
Honestly if I could change things I wouldn't for I am who I am because of my past and I love who I am and I honestly believe that, that is what Sally would want for me. For even though she is gone from this life she is still with me. I see her in my quite moments, in nature and in the face of my three wonderful children.
Please hear when I say:
As long as there is PURE LOVE I never lost Sally!
