Burial location for John and Rachel (McDaniel) Allen in Kentucky. In March, 2014, Lyman Cowan "Skip" Allen verified the following:
On the street map of Pulaski County, John Easter Allen's property was bordered on the north by Govers Lane and extended over a hill to Sinking Creek. Note a stream called Allen Branch, possibly named for him. The family burial plot is located in the rear of private property on the south side of Govers Lane between Nixon and Jacksboro Streets. About Rachel McDaniel/McDonald's Parents
Rachel McDaniel is the daughter of Revolutionary War Soldier Hugh McDonald/McDaniel (b about 1760, d 9-24-1828) and Rebecca (Rogers) McDonald/McDaniel (b about 1761, d about 1840). Rachel's parents lived in South Carolina and settled in Pulaski County, KY in 1809. They were married on 9-22-1778 in Fairfield, SC. Their surname McDonald was their original surname, but they also used the name McDaniel. Hugh served approximately fifteen months in the Revolutionary War, enlisting around 1776. He served in Colonel Sumter's Regiment under Captain Brown, fought in the Battle of Sullivan's Island (Fort Moultrie) and served as a light horseman (Dragoon) in Colonel Sumter's Regiment under Captain McClure. Hugh was very strong and endured many hardships during his military service. His strength and the support of his wife Rebecca helped him through it.
