Elma married Lorrin Whitting Sears on August 10 1898 in Brandon Wisconsin. Their son Alfred Whitting Sears was born Oct. 9 1899 in Lead South Dakota. The couple with their small son moved to Colorado near where her sister, Julia had settled with her husband and family. There, Elma died on Feb 12 1906, leaving her husband to raise their young son.
Her sister, "Tillie" had become a teacher and had moved to Milwaukee. She moved to California and married her sister's widower in 1920 and filled in as 'mother' to Elma's son, Alfred. She out lived both and died in California in 1954. She is buried in the same area as Elma and Lorrin in Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins Colorado. By her grave, her sister, Julia's stillborn grand daughter is also buried.
