Feb 7, 1911 - Carroll Sentinel - Last Saturday evening about 10 o'clock this community was called to mourn one of its most highly respected women when Mrs. Henry Miller passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.E. Fey of Scranton. The cause of her death was pneumonia. Just a week prior to her death she left here for Scranton with the intention of making a few days visit with her daughter Mary, after which she intended to come to Carroll with her daughters to select a dwelling for herself hoping to take life easy and devote her time to Christian duties. She was a devout member of the Lutheran church and always strove to do good and make those happy about her, she was indeed a kind and loving mother.

Anna Elizabeth Miller nee Kraling was born in Hessian Germany in 1837 and was at the time of her death 70 years, 7 months, and 10 days of age. While there she was united in marriage with Henry Miller.

To this union were born six children four of whom survive her and two are dead, surviving her are Elizabeth and Henry of this place, John of Randolph, Neb., and Mrs. E.E. Fey of Scranton.

In the year 1864 they, accompanied with their eldest child Elizabeth, immigrated to Ohio. They remained there one year and moved to Peru, Illinois, remaining there about 12 years and in the seventies they came to Iowa and settled south of Arcadia where they made their permanent home.

The remains were shipped to Carroll and the funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church at that city, Rev. Englert of Arcadia officiated and the remains were laid to rest in the Carroll cemetery.
