The land on which the Corbin Cemetery is located was first owned by Ulysses L. Williamson, first-cousin of Nancy Williamson Corbin and son of William J. Williamson and Jane (nee Flowers) Phillips. Ulysses survived the War Between the States, made it home and worked extremely hard trying to rebuild his farm. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 36, leaving a wife, the former Mary Ann Trapnell (d/o Elijah Trapnell and Theresa Hull), and four small children: Preston, Dora Anna, Turah Virginia, and Mahala Elizabeth. His widow sold the farm to Nelson Corbin and was remarried in 1876 to William Moore Atkinson of Nunez, for whom she had four more children: Eva, Theresa, Floyd, and Clara. Mary Ann died in 1892 and is buried in the old Atkinson Cemetery north of Nunez.

A government marker was erected on Ulysses' grave in the 1970s by Dale and Olivia Morris.
