Yesterday morning about 11 o' clock, Colonel R. Richardson, a gentleman stopping at the St. Leonard hotel, met with a sad and untimely ending. Colonel Richardson had just come to this city from Cotulla, with a view to get medical treatment, he having suffered for some time with his throat and lungs, but on Saturday he seemed to be improving, and went to see the polo at the springs. On Sunday morning he was lively and talked in a cheerful manner to all his friends, by whom he was much respected. At 9 o'clock he was sitting outside the St. Leonard talking, when he suddenly felt queer, and said he would go to the doctor's. He arose and went to Dr. Burnham's office at the back of Dr. Lemman's office. Just as he placed his foot on the top step he was seen to stagger and fall. He was taken into the office and every means was tried to restore life, but in no purpose; every attempt was useless, and the doctors pronounced him dead, from hemorrhage of the lungs. The funeral took place last night, when many of his friends were present. Colonel Richardson has only one relative, a nephew, Frank Richardson by name. He is not in Texas, and his address is unknown.
