Cecil Pray departed this life on Friday, Aug. 10. He was born Nov. 18, 1919, to the late Julian and Sophia Pray of Allenhurst.

Mr. Pray attended historic Dorchester Academy. He was a World War II veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart.

At an early age, he joined the Baconton Missionary Baptist Church where he served until his death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Addie M. (James) Hines of Pembroke; two sons, William (Gloria) Pray of Philadelphia and Fredrick Pray of Tybee Island; granddaughter, Tresha White of Allenhurst; four sisters, Thelma Pray, Dorothy McIver, Alexzine Martin and Lucille Pray, all of Philadelphia; a devoted son-in-law, Bobbie Anderson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Dorchester Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Baconton Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Hermon Scott will officiate.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors.

Dorchester Funeral Home of Midway has charge of the arrangements.
