Member of Company H, 10th Virginia Regt. Enlisted at the begining of the Civil War. Was shot through both lungs at High Bridge, Prince Edward County, Virginia in 1865, left on the battlefield for dead. Found and cared for by a friend, a surgeon in the Union Army. Returned home two days before the date set for his funeral.
