From Wilkie:

Theophilus Smith Leonard was the son of James Wilkinson Leonard and his wife Mary "Polly" Ambrose of Sussex County, Virginia. Tradition has it that two horses were shot from under him during the course of the war, one at Beverly's Ford and the other at Spotsylvania. He married Marianna Gresham on November 8, 1866 in Dinwiddie County, VA, and had nine children. Two of the children died in childhood. Marianna (Gresham) died in 1888. He second married in 1894 Ann Elizabeth "Nanny" Tucker of Dinwiddie County. She died on December 11, 1928. The VA headstone on Memorial Hill in Blandford Cemtery was placed there in remembrance of Captain Leonard. We found in the WPA Historical Inventory collection a reference to the T. S. Leonard family graveyard: "Location is 3 miles north of the junction of Namozine and Browns Roads, and is on the east side of and a half mile from the River Road in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. The oldest grave is 1888. This graveyard is located in a big open field, and is enclosed by a paling fence that has fallen down in places. It is on top of a knoll and contains three known graves, only one is marked by a tombstone and that is a Confederate marker for Captain Theophilus S. Leonard, born December 7, 1832; died September 21, 1921. Buried beside him is Marianna (Gresham) Leonard, his first wife, who was born December 15, 1847 and died on December 7, 1888. The other grave is that of one of their children."
