BURLISON, TENN. - Rev. James T. Strevel, 70, pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church, died of heart disease Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Munford Funeral Home with burial in Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford. He was an Army veteran. Rev. Strevel, the husband of Una Mae Zenar Strevel, also leaves three daughters, Carolyn Sfakanios of Bartlett, Joyce Talley of Drummonds and Sherry L. Lane of Covington; three sons, Mike Strevel of Atoka, and Gary Howard and Bobby Howard, both of Covington; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Garcia of Memphis, Pearl Tate of Amory, Miss., and Sammie Sue Nally of Illinois; three brothers, Thomas Strevel of Aberdeen, Miss., and George Wren and Raymond Wren, both of Memphis, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
