John M Kingsolver, son of James Kingsolver and Mary Minnick, was born in Virginia in 1840 and in 1847 moved with his parents to Hawkins County, Tennessee, later moving to Sullivan County. In 1857 he moved to Clinton County, Indiana.
John was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, Aug 1861 as a Private. Mustered in Co K 10th Indiana Infantry on 18 Sept 1861. Promoted to Full Corporal. Mustered out 19 Sept 1864 at Indianapolis, Indiana.
After his discharge he returned to Indiana, and on 27 Dec 1866 married Sarah Fitzpatrick from his native county in Virginia. They had three children. Leslie Howard was born in Indiana in 1868. The family moved to Fremont County, Iowa, in 1871 and settled on a farm east of Sidney. Nellie Mary was born in 1873 and Sarah (Gordon) was born in 1876.
Sarah died at the age of 71 years in 1905 at their home east of Sidney. John moved to Shenandoah in 1917.
John died in 1931 at the age of 91 years 3 months 11 days.
