Neldon DeVon Curtis was born Wednesday, December 24, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Ruel and Mary Zola Harward Curtis.

He married Bertha Josephine McKeel on Tuesday, June 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Kearns, Taylorsville, and Cottonwood Heights.

He was known as a hard worker, even in a generation of laborers. He carved out a life for his wife and family during tumultuous times, grounding his efforts in his faith and loved ones. He worked as a salesman at Deseret Book.

He enjoyed holidays, sports, family history, camping, art, creating, gardening, research, books, and his religion.

He was a lifelong, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, belonging to the Butler Twelfth Ward. He served in the Easter States Mission and held many church callings, including three Bishoprics.

After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Uncle DeVon passed away while surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 7, 2012 in Sandy.

He left to cherish his memory his wife, Bertha Curtis; children, Kenda (Gary) Winn, Janet (Jerry) McWillis, Karen (Greg) Houskeeper, Sheryl (Randy) Broomhead, and Larry (Shannon) Curtis; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Kent (Bonnie) Curtis, Rula (John) Flink, and Barbara (Bill) Inkley; and brothers-in-law, Norm Gibbons and Dee (Ann) Bradshaw. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Phyrl Black, Ruel Curtis, Gae Gibbons, Dale Curtis, Sara Flink, and Linda Bradshaw.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Butler Twelfth Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2695 East Fort Union Boulevard (7000 South) in Cottonwood Heights. Calling hours were held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary located at 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South), and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Following the conclusion of the funeral services, Uncle DeVon was laid to rest in the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.

The family prayer was offered by Greg Houskeeper.
The prelude music was offered by Pam Deppe.
The invocation was offered by Randy Broomhead.
Musical numbers performed included: "O My Father," which was performed by the congregation; "Musical Number," which was performed by Chandra Broomhead, Diane Carlson, Diane Carlsen, Lisa Christiansen, Shannon Curtis, Amanda Fox, Annia Houskeeper, Charie Huff, Michelle Nielson, Katie Wilson, and Michonne McGovern; "Whispering Hope," which was performed by Jim Reeves; and "I Need Thee Every Hour," which was performed by the congregation.
Speakers included: Janet McWillis, Larry D. Curtis, Kenda Winn, Karen Houskeeper, and Sheryl Broomhead.
The benediction was offered by Gary Winn.
The grave was dedicated by Larry D. Curtis.
