Henry Harding was born in Overwharton Parrish, Stafford County, Virginia in 1752. While residing in Hyco Creek, Virginia, he enlisted in the military in 1775. He served for four months as a Private under Capt. Peter Rogers and Col. Lewis in the Virginia Troops. He re-enlisted in the winter of 1776, serving six months under Capt. Moore. While a resident of Woodstock, Virginia he enlisted again in 1780. He served eighteen months in Capt. Holdham's Company and Col. Campbell's Virginia Regiment and was in the battles of Camden, Guilford Court House and Eutaw Springs. He survived the Revolutionary War and died at age 83. He is reportedly buried in an abandoned cemetery in Marion County, Indiana.
It is deplorable that a Colonial, a Patriot and a Veteran of the War for Independence of this country lies forgotten in a forgotten cemetery.
