John L. Meyer
Services for John L. Meyer, 61, of 2201 Decorah St., Senior High School instructor and coach, who died in class Tuesday morning will be at St. Joseph's Church at a time to be announced.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The services are pending the arrival of his son from Thailand.
Mr. Meyer was born in Dubuque. He was an instructor and tennis coach at Senior High School for the past 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's parish and the Holy Name Society. He was the founder of the city recreation department summer tennis program, which he supervised for 23 years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Calkins, two daughters, Sister Jean Meyer, BVM of Boulder, Colo, and Mrs. Bernard (Karen) Link, of Wilmington, Del., two sons, James, of Dubuque, and Lt. Thomas, USAF, in Thailand; four grandchildren; five sisters, Sister Mary Lourdella, BVM., of Mount Carmel and Miss Adell Meyer, Mrs. Eldon Imhoff, Miss Florence Meyer, and Miss Emily Meyer, all of Dubuque, and two brothers, Frank and Arthur, both of Dubuque.
