GLORIA R. (MIDDLETON) BALBAUGH, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at her home in company of her husband, children and nieces. Born May 13, 1931, in Allen County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lovina (Happel) Hagan. She graduated from Arcola High School in 1949. She married Richard Middleton on Aug. 26, 1950; he died Feb. 7, 2000. She then married Maynard (Joe) Balbaugh in June of 2001. "Gloria's joy in life came from her faith in God, love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended host of family and friends. She was a stranger to no one, who found good in everyone she would meet. Her love affected all with her caring and encouragement." Those left to mourn her loss and celebrate her union with the Lord are her husband, Joe Balbaugh and his children, David Balbaugh and Anne, Carol and John Hansen, all of Milford, Mich., Linda Rowley and Jim, both of Jackson, Mich.; children, Mark Middleton of Kendallville and Jay Middleton of Wolcottville; daughters, Billie Jo (Mark) Warner of Hudson, Jodie (John) Evans of Auburn and Connie Smith of South Bend; grandchildren, Mike Walkup, Sarah Middleton, Adam Middleton, Sean Middleton, Jess Middleton, Josh Rupert, Brent Rupert, Amy Paul, Kristen Albert, Drew Warner, Adam Warner, Stacy Spornhauer, Stephanie Spornhauer, Kadish Evans, Mackenzie Evans, Nate Heffley, Mandy Heffley, Christopher Rooks, Diane Armstrong, Nicole Murphy, Jack Hall, Scott Hall, Devon, Phillip, Matthew; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Hagan; sisters, Dorothy Leonard, Madeline Walsh and Viva Stout; and grandson, Jason Heffley. Mass of Christian Resurrection is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, with calling one hour prior. Fr. Pius Ilechukwu officiating. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial in Eel River Cemetery. Memorials to Heartland Hospice, St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church or donor's choice.
