The son of William Baker, he married Malissa Twitty in 1831 in White Co. TN. They had 14 children, 11 of whom lived to adulthood.
They moved to IL in 1839. William served 1846-1848 in the Mexican War, Co A, 2nd Reg. IL Volunteers.
Some records show his name as D. William or William D. We don't know what the 'D' stood for.
After Melissa died, he married widow, Susan Angeline Spearman Bean on Nov. 29, 1866. They had three more children.
