Kenneth Witcher graduated from Red Boiling Springs High School as valedictorian in 1939. He served in the Navy during World War II and later graduated from the University of Memphis. He returned to Red Boiling Springs and worked in the lumber business with his father and two brothers before starting his own lumber company in the 1950s, which he ran until his retirement in the early 1980s. He served two terms in the Tennessee state legislature in the 1960s and for many years on the Macon County Board of Education. Always interested in Republican politics, he was county chairman of the GOP and served as a delegate or alternate at four national conventions. He was also an elector in the 1980 presidential election of Ronald Reagan.

Kenneth was the son of Pony Witcher & Lena Russell Witcher. He married Maitred Neel in 1944 and was the father of Sue Lynne, Sandra Lucile, Deborah Neel, Roger Kenneth & Russell Yates Witcher.
