Thomas Norment first came to Texas in 1831. He enlisted in the Texas Army in March of 1836, and the company commanded by Captain William M. Logan at San Jacinto was organized at the home of Mrs. William Johns. Three of it's members, "the son of Mrs. Johns, Thomas Norman, and Dr. Nicholas D. Labadie, were all said to have been from the Anahuac area of Texas.

Thomas Norment's sister Mary was married to Dr. Labadie. The Dr. was on the field of battle at San Jacinto , and his friend and brother in-law, Thomas Norment was detailed to guard the wounded at Harrisburg.

It is believed that Thomas died near Liberty Texas, but the actual place of death and burial was never recorded.
