Mr. James D. Egbert arrived at Velasco, Texas, January 28, 1836 on the schooner Pennsylvania. He had been recruited for service in the Texas Army, by Captain Amasa Turner in New Orleans. He was a corporal in Captain Richard Roman's company at Velasco, and later fought in the Battle of San Jacinto .
James was five feet and seven inches in height, of fair complexion, with grey eyes and dark hair. By trade he was a printer. Died in Galveston, according to probate records found in Harris county.
