Birth: unknown
Illinois, USA
Death: Jun. 1, 1836
Brazoria County
Texas, USA

Luke W. Bust, was born in Illinois, and first came to Texas in January, 1836. On December 18, 1835, he was one of the many who enlisted in Captain Sidney Sherman's Company in Kentucky, to help win a victory for the newly created Texas Army. Luke ended up participating in that victory, as one of the musicians in Captain William Wood's Company at The Battle of San Jacinto

Just who Luke Bust actually was, is lost in time, because he died in Velasco, Republic of Texas, on June 1, 1836. The details of his death and the exact location of his burial is unknown. He was still a member of the Texas Army when he passed away, never actually having a fixed residence in the land he fought for. His wife Mary Bust and his children, Elizabeth, Sarah, Harriet, Ann, William, Luke, and Henry Bust were all residents of Caldwell County in the State of Kentucky.

175 years ago he fought at The Battle of San Jacinto, helping to secure liberty for the Republic of Texas, only to die within two months, and never experiencing the spoils of victory.
