WEST SALEM Bernice A. Shaum, 96, of West Salem, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Autumnwood Nursing & Rehabilitation in Rittman.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Christopher Cottrel officiating. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home with Eastern Star Services at 6:15 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Congress Community Church, 192 N. Main St., West Salem 44287 or Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
Bernice was born July 2, 1910, in Hinckley to Joseph and Roselina (Baker) Howard.
She retired from Lodi Community Hospital, where she was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a homemaker all her life.
She was a member of Garfield Chapter No. 324 Order of the Eastern Star in West Salem and Congress Community Church, where she was also a member of the Women's Church Organization.
Surviving are five children, Richard (Luellen) Shaum of Rittman, Donald (Janet) Shaum of Burbank, Lucretia (Thomas) Repp of Lodi, Raymond (Esther) Shaum of Wooster and Kenneth (Sandy) Shaum of Wooster; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Orland Shaum died in 1992, two grandsons, two brothers, Homer and Joseph Howard and two sisters, Ada Ickes and Ida Young, also died previously.
