Mrs. Josephine Estes Grooms, age 86, resident of Meadow Rd. in Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Monday, June 21, 2010 at NHC-Hillview in Columbia following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Monty McCandless officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, TN, she was the daughter of the late Sydney Bond and Mamie McKennon Estes. She was the wife of the late James C. Grooms. She was a homemaker, always being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved sewing, quilting and working in her flowers. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Tate of Columbia and Margaret (Allen) Vandiver of Mt. Pleasant; a son, William "Buddy" (Laticia) Grooms of Mt. Pleasant; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by three brothers, Eural, L.D., and Homer Estes and four sisters, Mattie Potts, Pauline Boshers, Vera Boshers and Reba Odom.

Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
