Ray Edward Frisk
JONESBORO — Ray Edward Frisk, 95, of Jonesboro, Craighead, Arkansas, formerly of Camarillo, California, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 3, 2007, at home with family at his side.
Born Dec. 14, 1911, at Woodbine, Dickenson, Kansas, to Alvin James and Mary Ellen "Ellie" Caudle Frisk. He moved to California at a young age. In his early teens he worked for Gillette (Razor Co.) Family Ranch home in California. In his late teens, he went to work at the Famed Adohr Milk Farms.
He worked in Buttonwillow, California, for a number of years before moving to the dairy in Tarzana, California as a truck driver. While in Buttonwillow, he met his love, and on June 5, 1933 he was joined in marriage with Verna Mae Barker. He also served in the Home Guard during WW II. In 1945 he moved with the dairy farm to Camarillo as their ranch foreman at Adohr Farms.
Ray's hobbies were stock car racing from 1955 to 1967, and deep-sea fishing for many years. He was a charter member of Boy Scout Troop 206 in Camarillo serving as troop leader and assistant troop leader for a number of years.
At his retirement in 1967 from Adohr Farms he moved to Clover Bend, Arkansas where he purchased land and started farming, doing this for a number of years. Then, he worked for Vasser Truck Co. moving U.S. Mail between Northeast Arkansas and Dallas, Texas. He retired again in 1980.
He was of the Baptist belief, having been a member of Pleasent Valley Baptist Church in Camarillo, from 1945 until 1967, then joined a Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Survivors include two sons, James R. Frisk of Simi Valley, Calif., and John F. Frisk of Jonesboro; two daughters, Dawna L. Bouchard of Jonesboro and Waneta Loy Simmons husband Gene of West Plains, Missouri; three half brothers, Clifford Frisk of Aumsville, Oregon; Clarence Frisk of Yakima, Washington and Clyde Frisk of Entiat, Washington; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention by name.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae Barker Frisk; his parents, Alvin James Frisk and Mary Ellen (Ellie) Caudle Frisk; three sisters Hazel Woodson, Grace Jones and Vera Dodd; two grandsons Rodney Franklin "Baby" Peterson and James Allen "Little Jimmy" Peterson; one granddaughter Loy Lynnette Rape Baxter Parker, and son-in-law Gilman J. Bouchard.
Funeral services will be Saturday the 8th, at 10 a.m. conducted by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in the funeral home chapel in Jonesboro with Rowdy and Charles Morgan officiating (his nephews).
Viewing will be on Sept 10th at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park funeral home with Graveside services being conducted on Sept 11th, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, Ventura Co, Californa next to his beloved wife of 44 years.
