**I am desperately searching for his diary! If you know its whereabouts please let me know**

Everett was a boot and shoemaker, and a Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Everett married Grace Melissa Harris in 1869. After her death in 1876, he moved to Wisconsin and married Kate McConnell (1881).

Sometime around 1887 he left his family in Wisconsin. It is believed he went to California and/or Scotland, based on a newspaper article on his exploits. It is not known why he left his family behind.

He next appears in August of 1888 in Massachusetts, where a transcript of his diary places him in Orange, Massachusetts, fishing and finding an old plow that he then wheeled back to his parents' home in Caribou, ME.

He appears to be living in Hartford, ME in 1910, but by 1916 had moved to Canton. In a letter in 1926, he stated that he was in very good health for his age and was thinking of moving around some soon. He didn't say where he was thinking of going.

He is not present in the 1930 census but in 1931 a genealogy was published by a Reynolds family Genealogical Society that stated he was still alive. Finally, in January of 2014, I located a death record for him from 1937 in Canton. The death record documents his burial here in Bear Mountain Cemetery-- there is no visible gravestone for him.

Later documents state that Everett Reynolds' diary was in the hands of family [ca. 1940-50]. The diary was transcribed by Stacy S. Griffin on 8 May 1985. I do not know if it still exists but I would love to know if it does. Everett is my ancestor and I would like to know what the diary contains, and particularly if he explains why he left his family behind in Wisconsin.
