Charles Talbot West, retired merchant and president of the Hartford State Bank, died last Wednesday afternoon at his home. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 27, at 2 o’clock, at the Hartford Methodist church with the Rev. Robert L. Harvey in charge. Burial was made in Hartford cemetery. Mr. West was born June 19, 1875, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Asahel M. West. He married Mary Estes, September 27, 1905. He was in the elevator business in Hart- ford for 30 years after he moved there from Cottonwood Falls. He was an active member of the Hartford Methodist church, the Masonic lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors are his wife of the home; four children, Mrs. Vernon Griffiths and Mrs. Elmer Clawson, of Harford; the Rev. Richard E. West of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Clarence Stewart, of Manhattan; one brother, Frank M. West of Emporia; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Finley of Cottonwood Falls, and seven grandchildren. One grandson preceded him in death.
