He was born May 6, 1926, in Secor, a son of Lester and Alta Robbins Stephens. He married Charlotte Young on Oct. 31, 1953. She died April 4, 1973. He then married Clara Lou Massey on May 25, 1974. She survives.
Other survivors inclulde three daughters, Carol Alexander, El Paso; Linda Schroeder, Eldridge, Iowa; and Connie Armstrong, Secor; two stepdaughters, Susan Dumser, Lincoln, and Julie Lewis, Corvalis, Ore.; a brother, James, Bloomington; two sisters, Betty Hughes, Bloomington, and Donna Floyd, Normal; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A brother preceded him in death.
Mr Stephens was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton. He was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and the Clinton school district. He currently worked for the Super Wash car wash in Clinton. He had played Santa Claus for many years in Clinton.
