Newton J. Fenn enlisted in Co. C of Phillips Legion on 1 March 1862. His records show that he was wounded on in May, 1864 and was admitted to Jackson Hospital in Richmond, VA on 29 July 1864. He returned to duty on 12 Aug 1864. The July & August muster rolls of soldiers who were present show he was present. Newton was one of four Fenn brothers who fought for the South in the Civil War. He was the only survivor.
