Jerry Lee Bazer Jr., age 47 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his residence.

He was born November 13, 1964 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Jerry Lee and Carolyn(Smith)Bazer. After graduating high school Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in Omaha. During his military career Jerry received numerous badges and awards including the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was honorably discharged from the military after serving his country faithfully for several years.

After he was honorably discharged from the military, Jerry spent time in the transportation industry as an over-the-road truck driver. He later went into carpentry as a roofer. Jerry was known by many to be a "jack of all trades." It should be noted that he also worked for Premium Standard Farms in Missouri.

In his free time Jerry enjoyed fishing with his son Cody, camping, and most importantly, the time he was able to spend with family and friends. Jerry was a very loving, caring, respectful and understanding father, son, friend, and family member.

Family and friends knew Jerry to be very "fanatical" Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.

He is survived by his wife Michelle Bazer of Centerville, Iowa; eight children, Cheryl Taylor of Fulton, Missouri, Wendy Wenneker of Fulton, Missouri, Michael, Steven, Jerry Bazer IV of Knoxville, Iowa, Cody and Desire Bazer of Centerville; his mother Carolyn Bradley of Scribner, Nebraska; his grandmother Clara Smith of Fremont, Nebraska; a brother Thomas Bazer of Scribner, Nebraska; and a sister, Tammy Lisle of Kings Lake, Nebraska.

Jerry was preceded in death by his Father Jerry Lee Bazer Sr.; his son Jerry Bazer III; a brother Steven Bazer; and his grandfather Bennett Smith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 pm Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Janet Lasley officiating. There will be no inurnment held at this time. Memorials have been established to the Jerry Bazer Memorial Fund.
