Albert Crossland Dudley son of Albert George Dudley and Marion Alfreda Crossland. He was a direct descendant of William Dudley and Jane Lutman, who emigrated from county Surrey, England and were among the first settlers of Guilford in 1639.
Mr. Dudley, a retired executive of the Colonial Gas Company of Lowell, MA and previously, of Connecticut Natural Gas Corp. of Hartford, had worked 40 years in the natural gas utility industry following his graduation from Yale University with a Chemical Engineering degree in 1950. Among his several avocations were philately, numismatics and genealogy. In the year 2000, he published a book detailing the descendants of one son of his immigrant ancestors and was working on a similar book detailing the descendants of their other son and two daughters. He was the founder and President of the William Dudley Family Association and as honorary Director of the Society of Middletown (Connecticut) First Settlers Descendants.
