His family was the first family in the area before 1790 & Bakersville was named for him. D
David's pension file W-1802 in National Archives. Enlisted in Culpepper Co., VA, Febuary, 1776, 3rd Regiment of the Vinginia Line for two years. David was at Gwynn's Island, with General Washington in White Plains, Brandywine, at Germantown, & at Valley Forge until 1778.
